3 AFTER-WORK SPOTS

Luxembourg is full of young professionals from all over Europe and further afar. It’s therefore not surprising that it has a thriving after-work scene. Some of the best are:

Café des Capucins

Residing next to the Théâtre des Capucins, this is a trendy spot to sip an after-work drink, especially on warm evenings in its open courtyard. During the summer-in-the-city open-air movie festival, the courtyard becomes one of the established venues. If peckish, the CDC burger is a favourite and if you feel like something unusual to drink, go for the strawberry Aperol.

La Briscola

Named after one of Italy’s most popular card games, this restaurant was the brainchild of a group of friends from Milan, Bormio and Udine. It offers regional Italian cuisine and its aperitivo ‘Briscolino’ is renowned. When you buy a drink, you are invited to help yourself to a wonderful spread of regional food, from things like mozzarella in carrozza (‘mozzarella in carriages’, the Italian equivalent of cheese toasties), to dishes of steaming pasta.

octans

Right in the city centre, this dimly-lit, chic-but-cosy bar, is the perfect place to slip into after work for “exotic spirits and long forgotten cocktails”. The staff are consistently friendly and occasionally, there are high-end, themed evenings, such as “A trip to Scotland by the way of Octans”, “Octans Apero Oysters”, “Spirited Cocktails and Jazz”, and you get the vibe…
