3 PANORAMAS

The Glass Floor over Pfaffenthal

Luxembourg has its very own ‘Great Glass Elevator’ like in Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The elevator at Pfaffenthal, which was opened in 2016, features a glass floor which offers views down to matchbox-sized houses in the Alzette Valley.

La Corniche

La Corniche was labelled as Europe’s most beautiful balcony by the Luxembourgish writer Batty Weber. It was built by the Spaniards and the French in the 17th century and looks down from Place de la Constitution into the Pétrusse valley. It is especially pretty in the fall when the trees down below are turning from green to a hundred hues of autumnal brown, claret and orange.

Park Drai Eechelen

‘The Three Acorns’ park, just behind Mudam, takes its name from the 3 golden acorns that sit atop the three towers of Fort Thüngen. The site of the historic fortification, which has been redeveloped by landscape architect Michel Desvigne, offers a panoramic view over the old town as well as to the modern, multi-storey towers of Kirchberg.
