The high quality of life in Luxembourg is in part due to its vast amount of nature. No less than a quarter of the city’s land is taken up by green areas, all of which are completely natural since Luxembourg City’s municipal departments have refrained from using pesticides since 2009.
Some of the best places to soak up nature are:
Tony Neuman Park
This is Limpertsberg’s best kept secret, accessible via a subtle gate on Avenue de la Faïencerie. It is home to a collection of sculptures, some of which have been created by well-known local artists, beautiful flower beds and beehives.
Edouard André Municipal Park
The Municipal Park, an English park imagined by landscape engineer Edouard André, is an island of green through the heart of the city. It stretches from the Kinnékswiss just next to Pescatore, where the large ‘Luxembourg’ letters are, all the way to Monterey where there is a beautiful pond with a perpetual water spray, like a very little Lake Geneva.

The Pirate Ship
Slightly visible through the leafy trees that line Avenue Monterey is a huge wooden pirate ship is docked in a sandy play park. By day it’s a mecca for children, but by night it has been known to host moonlit dates with takeaway sushi 😉
