Recently, after reading about the success of Amazon and Jeff Bezos’ two-pizza rule (every team should be small enough that it can be fed with two pizzas to increase efficiency and improve communication flows), I realised I hadn’t yet wrote about my three favourite pizza places in Lux.
Having always relied on the infamous Neapolitan pizzera, Risso, which abruptly closed its doors before the pandemic, I spent quite a bit of time (and calories) scouting out my new favourite go-to places. Finally I have siphoned the list down to three.
PARTIGIANO
Partigiano is a modern kitchen and bar that offers a variety of pizzas as well as healthy food options. They use neapolitan style dough to give a floppy, thin base, a good quantity of scorch marks (leoparding), and an airy cornicione (the ledge around the pizza). I can recommend the Pumpkin Paradise with guanciale. I love the fact that when you order delivery they handwrite you a little quote inside the lid of the box.
CLOUD FACTORY
Let Luxembourg’s newest pizzeria take you to cloud 9 with the fluffiest pizza in the country. Their neapolitan dough follows a secret recipe optimized for delivery and take-away, in that it survives the journey perfectly.
They also have a vegan version, “Vegan Garden”, with yellow pepper cream, roasted eggplants, zucchini chips taggiasche black olives from Liguria and basil.
LA TORRE
Have you read Eat Pray Love? I always remember how Elizabeth Gilbert describes the pizza… La Torre’s golden mosaic oven produces a pizza that pretty much fits the bill:
“Thin, doughy, strong, gummy, yummy, chewy, salty pizza paradise. On top, there is a sweet tomato sauce that foams up all bubbly and creamy when it melts the fresh buffalo mozzarella, and the one sprig of basil in the middle of the whole deal somehow infuses the entire pizza with herbal radiance, much the same way one shimmering movie star in the middle of a party brings a contact high of glamour to everyone around her”
An added benefit is that La Torre has a big beautiful terrace in Limpertsberg.
